While it is a great feeling to watch the $$$$ roll in when visitors click on the Adsense ads featured on your website it is not the ads that the visitors are there for. Your job also includes building a website that has sufficient content to hold the interest of those who land there. We have probably all heard this before but>>>”Content is King”. Bottom line is that what your pages consist of is what will keep people interested enough to come back and to tell others about you. When you have created a site with rich content then their attention is held while they are reading the material. This is when the peripheral vision notices the ads on the sidebars or other relevant locations. When people realize that the content is to their liking they will browse for a longer period of time and return frequently, both actions allowing more time for attention to be diverted to the ads…and the ensuing clicks.
That brings up another quality of a content rich site…it is not stagnant. Probably the least attractive thing on the internet is a site that never changes. If you remain stagnant then your visitors will see your material twice. The first time will be when they initially stumble onto your website, be it from a direct search or referral from another source. The second time will be when curiousity brings them back to see what is new. And if nothing is new they will be gone forever. Not only will their visit no longer be of a concern to you the visits of all they tell about your site will not show up in your positive statistics.
Content is king, content is king, content is king. Don’ know about you but I find the repitition of that phrase to be a bit irritating at times. So what is content and how do you make your site “content rich”?
Well, for starters there should be many sources of information probably in article form. Your website of course is concerned with a specific topic. Whether this be pets, holistic medicines or occupation related information you wil not be able to place all available information regarding that topic on one site. So usually you will develop your site around a theme regarding a small portion of the covered topic. Even when you narrow the topic down to a specific theme you should be able to locate enough information to keep you in material for years!
Of course if you were able to locate this information then just about anybody can locate them. So your chore is to keep your posted info fresh and current. Way to do this is keeping your articles within the 300 to 700 word range. This sized article allows visitors the ability to read them within about five minutes or so without being bored. Also articles of this size are easily changed out, keeping your information fresh and attractive.
Frequently you come across sites that are loaded with graphics and colors. Flashing rainbows of lights, arrows, zigzags and whatever someone was able to put together. Too much flash and your statcounter will register very short visiting periods. Properly placed colors attract the eyes of the site visitor who will then be able to browse your articles in relative comfort! This is not meant to convince everybody to put out a bland grey and white webpage. A well thought out template coupled with blended colors ands graphics will make an attractive site that will hold the attention to those who visit it.
Bottom line is that when you create content that is useful, valuable and informative you should be able to attract and retain a web audience that have a genuine interest in your product. The time these visitors spend on your pages should be well rewarded by clicks on the Adsense ads you place therin. This means profit, which I believe all of us are deeply interested in!
